- ➤ DOTD will open a new diverging diamond interchange at Pecue Lane and I-10 today to ease congestion for commuters facing long delays near Perkins and Highland Road. Local driver Chris Dupre said the design builds on successful roundabout use in the area (DOTD posted on Jan. 11) and remains optimistic. WVLA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Christine O'Brien, CEO of UnitedHealthcare for Louisiana and Mississippi, aims to lower health care costs by offering flexible commercial plans and an app based option (guiding members to higher value providers) as rising premiums challenge local companies. The Advocate
- ➤ A CDC report from Friday showed a 10-year high in children visiting the doctor with the flu, and Dr. Clayton F. Runfalo of Ochsner Health advised getting a flu shot, washing hands, and eating well as kids return to school. The doctor noted that people may be contagious before symptoms appear (early precautions can help reduce risk). WBRZ
- ➤ The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) reported that McCain Foods voluntarily recalled nearly 40,000 cases of tater tots for possible plastic fragments. The impacted Ore-Ida and Sysco products were distributed in multiple states, including local outlets. WAFB 9
