  • A Baton Rouge woman celebrated her 110th birthday on Monday. Mildred Bowie, a former English teacher originally from New Orleans, shared advice to treat others kindly and marked her milestone with nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren (a testament to her long life in the community).  WBRZ
  • Officials started building a mixed-use project behind the IHOP on Harding Boulevard to bring a Harvest Fresh grocery store, shops, and offices to North Baton Rouge and help fix food deserts. An $18 million state and local investment will spur economic growth and keep residents close to home.  WAFB 9
  • LSU experts say Baton Rouge drivers face rising road rage, noting nearly 60% of fatal wrecks link to aggressive driving. Officials advise drivers to stay calm, keep distance, and follow traffic laws (LSU offers preventive tips) to help improve road safety.  LSU Reveille

  • LSU alumnus Jacob Savoie battled encephalitis in 2007 and now shares his survival story in the documentary 'My Missing Mind.' The film will screen at Varsity Theatre on Jan. 23 and 24 (highlighting his shift from struggle to advocacy) in Baton Rouge.  WBRZ
  • Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra will perform 'An American Rhapsody' (led by Maestro Adam Johnson) soon at a local concert venue. The performance is part of the season's lineup that highlights local arts.  WAFB 9

  • Louisiana taxpayers can file their 2025 state income tax returns electronically for free via the Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point starting Monday, Jan. 26 — paper returns may take up to eight weeks.  WBRZ

  • A new clinic for pulmonary care opened at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet Campus under Dr. Roy Culotta's direction (over 20 years’ experience) and offers guided lung nodule care. It operates Mon-Thurs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fri from 7 a.m. to noon at 8585 Picardy Avenue.  WAFB 9
