  • Mayor-President Sid Edwards, the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs, and City Constable Terrica Williams hosted the third annual Hearts for Heroes tribute on Monday at City Hall, transforming Davis Rhorer Plaza into a tribute space with red hearts — each bearing a veteran’s name and branch.  WBRZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge curates 'The Great Reunion' at Cary Saurage Community Arts Center for Black History Month to show the Great Migration’s cultural impact. Local artists and Gallery Guichard works use texture and color to reveal a journey from southern roots to Chicago (showing shared heritage).  WVLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Zachary Early Learning Center officials debated raising tuition at a Feb. 3 committee meeting and will vote today to boost monthly tuition from $450 to $550 and registration fees from $60 to $75 for the upcoming school year (registration begins in March).  The Advocate
  • LSU Special Collections is offering behind-the-scenes tours at Hill Memorial Library on the second Wednesday of each month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can reserve limited spots online + learn how archival work preserves Louisiana history.  LSU Reveille
  • The Zachary School Board is set to vote today on buying a 1-acre parcel, appraised at $94,000, offered by Zachary United Methodist Church adjacent to the high school, which currently serves 1,730 students. Superintendent Ben Necaise said the property may provide needed space for classrooms or parking.  The Advocate

  • East Baton Rouge officials and local resident Henry Smith pushed for improved street lighting after years of dark streets on St. Gerard Avenue. Upgraded LED lights are now installed, and more replacements will occur in the coming months to boost community safety.  WVLA

  • A new study from OSU Wexner Medical Center shows many Baton Rouge residents are unaware of key heart tests like the 15-minute calcium scan and alternative medications to manage heart disease. Dr. Laxmi Mehta advises starting cholesterol checks at 18 to catch issues early.  WBRZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSU women's basketball beat Auburn 77-44 on Sunday with strong defense that held Auburn to single-digit points each half. The Tigers will focus on hosting South Carolina on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. as they prepare for their next game.  LSU Reveille
  • Women’s college bowling returns to Baton Rouge this weekend at All Star Lanes as Southern hosts a three-day event featuring teams including Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston and Texas Southern. The tournament starts Friday at 9:15 a.m. with Baker matches and continues through Sunday.  WBRZ
  • The Denham Springs Yellow Jackets soccer team will host Northshore (the Panthers) Wednesday with a quarterfinal berth at stake. The team, standing at 16-3-0, aims to avenge a 2-1 loss from their last meeting.  The Advocate
  • The LSU women's basketball team beat Auburn 77-44 in SEC action as Zakiyah Johnson scored 16 points to push the Tigers to a 22-3 record, and they will host South Carolina on Saturday.  WJBO
  • A recent report from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s Office shows LSU football earned $66,825,301 in profit in 2025 — over $14 million more than the preceding year. The athletic department generated $223,457,267 in total revenue that same year.  WBRZ
