- ➤ LSU students held the Mailbox of Joy event on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Student Union, where they made birthday cards for children in juvenile detention programs in Baton Rouge. The initiative aims to bring hope and recognition to these youth on their special day. LSU Reveille

- ➤ St. George launched its Chamber of Commerce on Jan. 9 in a public meeting where local leaders and business owners gathered to unite for business advocacy + networking, and the chamber plans to host events and workshops to boost local economic development. WBRZ
- ➤ Fiat Chrysler warned on Wednesday not to drive certain Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles with unrepaired Takata airbags. The manufacturer stated free repairs are available at dealerships while 225,000 vehicles remain unrepaired. WBRZ

- ➤ Haute Soles, a new store at the Mall of Louisiana, showcases Mardi Gras style with sequined outfits, creative hats, Timbs, jorts, and accessories that boost local celebrations + the shop offers its gear year round with a website coming soon. LSU Reveille

- ➤ On Friday, Feb. 13, the Iberville Parish School District held a ribbon cutting at North Iberville High School in Maringouin to unveil a new classroom facility that features a modern science classroom & additional learning spaces. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU Athletics announced that 27 football players were named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, recognizing those with a GPA of 3.00 or above during the spring, summer, and fall terms of 2025 (including senior Harold Perkins and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier). WBRZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Washington Street exit on I-10 will permanently close later this month for safety improvements as DOTD begins work on Feb. 18 with nightly closures until Feb. 22; drivers (from I-10 use Highland Road or Nicholson Drive and from I-110 use Terrace Street) must adjust routes. WBRZ

- ➤ LSU will open its 2029 football season against SMU at the Dallas Cowboys' home stadium on Sept. 1 — their first game there since a 2018 opener. The contest is part of a two-game series that includes a home match on Sept. 2, 2028. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU baseball will open its 2026 season against Milwaukee — the Tigers begin their quest for a 9th national championship as the first pitch is set to be thrown soon. WAFB 9
