  • Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated will host its fifth annual Crimson River 5K/10K run and walk at Southern University campus on Saturday at 8 a.m.; the event benefits local charities and includes a Community Health and Economic Summit with health screenings and local business vendors.  WBRZ

  • City Pork has built a loyal local following with authentic Texas barbecue on Jefferson Highway and has grown from a single building in 2017 to 12 locations — its Table for 2 featuring brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and more remains a beloved menu staple.  WBRZ

  • The LSU Museum of Art is showing 'Daphnis and Chloe and Other Lovers: Lithographs by Marc Chagall' through May 24 with 50 works that bring a timeless love story to Baton Rouge — a curator talk is set for April 23 and art activities on May 3.  225 Magazine

  • St. Helena Parish School District announced a new partnership with Top Tutors for Us on Monday to offer free ACT test preparation at St. Helena College and Career Academy. The program will build academic skills and confidence + help students view college as an attainable goal.  WBRZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hundreds of middle and high school rodeo athletes competed at the Southeast Louisiana Junior and High School Rodeo at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales from Feb. 27 to Mar. 1. They raced in barrel racing, roping and goat tying while learning responsibility and sportsmanship in preparation for state finals in May.  The Advocate
  • The LSU women's hoops team wrapped up the regular season with a 72-63 win against Mississippi State, led by Mikaylah Williams with 26 points. The team improved to a 26-4 record and will begin SEC Tournament play on Friday.  WJBO
