- ➤ Blue Bayou Waterpark will reopen on May 16 under new management and is hiring summer employees (after nearly a year of closure) following its acquisition by Leisure Sports. WBRZ
- ➤ Middendorf's Seafood Restaurant will host a two-week pop-up at Passé Restaurant inside the Origin Hotel on St. Ferdinand Street from March 17-20 and March 24-27, serving a limited menu for lunch & dinner. Owner Horst Pfeifer said it offers locals a taste of their famous Thin Fried Catfish. WBRZ

- ➤ The Baton Rouge Symphony League is selling tickets for the upcoming Mad Hatters Luncheon, where Casey Hicks and Maya Flowers will share event details. Local residents can secure tickets now for this cultural gathering. WAFB 9
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ EBR School Board approved a policy that lets the superintendent adjust start and dismissal times over three years after a pilot at six schools. A public meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. on March 17 at Belaire High to gather feedback before changes roll out in the fall. WBRZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Researchers at LSU and Tulane say a 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit Northwest Louisiana early Thursday near Edgefield. The quake, one of the state's largest, was felt widely and triggered aftershocks (including 2.9 and 2.7 quakes) as scientists examined a possible link to increased wastewater injection. WBRZ
- ➤ Gov. Jeff Landry said responders are cleaning up a crude oil leak at the LOOP near Grand Isle after a hose failure on Feb. 26 spilled 750 barrels, impacted 17 birds, and prompted a recovery effort using aerial surveillance, 5,000 feet of containment boom, 40 vessels, and over 330 workers. WBRZ

- ➤ LSU baseball won its game on Friday, Mar. 6 with 14 hits and six home runs, including three by Jake Brown that tied a school record, in a 15-4 win over Sacramento State. The team will face Sacramento State again tomorrow at 2 p.m. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU has 15 former players on preliminary rosters for Spring Breakout, tying with Tennessee for the most represented school, as final rosters will be announced before games begin + the exhibition games will run from Mar. 19-22. WBRZ
- ➤ According to ESPN, Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan will test free agency when the new league year begins next week. The 36-year-old set a record with 132 career sacks during his 15 seasons with the Saints. WJBO
