BUSINESS NEWS

  • Southwest announced that it will stop serving Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport on June 4 as it adjusts its flight network. The airline will keep operations at Chicago Midway, Baltimore Washington International, and Washington Reagan National.  WBRZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Baton Rouge will host the St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 17 (with more than 90 floats, food, and multigenerational gatherings) to draw local and out-of-town visitors for a festive celebration.  WAFB 9
  • West Baton Rouge Museum will host the 'Finding Alice: Artists Exploring Wonderland' exhibit from March 21 to May 24 with art inspired by Lewis Carroll, along with a free children's event on April 25 (10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) and a hat display honoring Mary Louise (Weeze) Saia Fertitta on April 11.  WAFB 9

SPORTS NEWS

  • Southern women's basketball clinched their second straight SWAC Championship after defeating Alabama State 73-56 on Saturday, Mar. 14, earning an NCAA Tournament berth. Zaria Hurston led with 13 points & four players scored in double figures.  WBRZ
  • Southern men’s basketball won 73-70 against Florida A&M when Michael Jacobs hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer (he scored 19 points), and they will face Prairie View A&M tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. in the SWAC tournament finals.  WAFB 9
  • Zachary boys basketball won its second straight state title on Saturday, Mar. 14 when they beat Ruston 63-60 for an eighth championship overall. Their girls basketball team also earned back to back titles.  WBRZ
