- ➤ The St. Patrick Parade of Jefferson banned riders who made offensive gestures from a float during Sunday’s parade along Metairie Road after video clips circulated on social media. - ➤ Residents are joining free sessions with Data Samurai & East Baton Rouge Parish Library to shape a tool that explains parish budgets, public services and workforce data; sessions began on March 16 and will run through May 14 at local libraries. WBRZ

- ➤ Former EBR Schools superintendent Dr. Sito Narcisse was announced as one of three finalists for Chicago's public schools CEO-superintendent role on Friday, Mar. 13 (he left his position in January 2024 when his contract was not renewed) and now faces interviews with Chicago's mayor and school board. - ➤ The LDOE presented its next fiscal year budget on Monday in a Senate committee hearing with an $87 million increase for the LA GATOR school choice program and $660,000 to cover vendor fees, nearly doubling last year’s funding. Lawmakers will review the levels as concerns about per-pupil spending differences continue. WAFB 9
- ➤ Southern University School of Nursing was named best in the US for the second year by Nurse.org, reflecting its strong academic programs. The school — celebrating 40 years on campus — will expand with a new building funded by Our Lady of the Lake and Woman’s Hospital. WAFB 9
