COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the LSU Tigers will start the NCAA Tournament second round against either Florida State or George Mason, and the week brings Baton Rouge a busy schedule with an outdoor fitness class at Goodwood Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m., a ladies' art night on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and baseball and softball games on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 5 p.m.—the weekend adds a local pop-up market and free Holi Festival on Saturday plus the Taste of Mid City food event on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.  LSU Reveille

CRIME NEWS

  • St. Gabriel city officials announced that police officer Darius Faveroth died on Sunday and that he was not killed in the line of duty—officials expressed deep condolences to his family, friends and the entire department.  WBRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • LSU Student Health Center hosted an event Friday, March 21 to help students build a better relationship with food and their bodies by writing down their insecurities to toss them away and noting what makes them proud (held outside the LSU Library). Nearly 80% of participants reported they gained more awareness of eating disorder support (as noted by freshman Addison Gonzalez) after the event.  LSU Reveille

  • LSU women will face Florida State in the NCAA Tournament today on ESPN—LSU comes off a 103-point win while FSU averages 87.4 points per game and is led by Ta'Niya Latson, who scores 25 points each game.  WBRZ
  • LSU Gymnastics defended its SEC Championship title with strong scores on uneven bars and vault, beating Oklahoma by .275 and earning its sixth title. Coach Jay Clark said the win is a step toward defending the National Championship.  LSU Reveille
