  • Honor Flight Louisiana is planning trips for veterans to visit memorials in Washington, D.C. The group hopes to raise awareness about its mission to honor military service.  WAFB 9
  • St. Gabriel law enforcement held a funeral procession on March 29 to honor a fallen police officer—many shared heartfelt memories of his service.  WAFB 9

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Thursday evening crash in Central near Lovett Road sent three people to a local hospital after a grey Honda crossed the center and hit a white SUV that flipped into a ditch—police took toxicology samples from both drivers as the investigation continues.  WVLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 29, voters in St. George cast ballots for mayor, police chief and city council seats, and incumbent mayor Dustin Yates won with 11,472 votes while contests in District 2 and District 4 saw incumbent Steve 'Chili' Monachello and Patricia 'Patty' Cook keep their seats along with other council members including Todd Morris, Richie Edmonds, Max Himmel and new winner J. Andrew Murrell—withdrawals affected some races.  WVLA
  • Louisiana voters rejected four state constitutional amendments on Saturday that would have changed courts, state finances, teacher pay and juvenile crime laws — the proposals received less than 40% support statewide — and Gov. Jeff Landry, who had campaigned for the changes, said he remains determined to push for reform.  The Advocate

  • LSU beat UCLA in the 2024 Sweet 16 and now faces UCLA today at 2 p.m. CT on ABC from Spokane Arena as the Tigers aim to dominate the paint with Morrow and Smith—key factors against UCLA center Lauren Betts who now averages 20.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.  LSU Reveille
  • LSU women’s basketball guard Flau’Jae Johnson scored 25 points and made a key block in last year’s Sweet 16 win over UCLA and will lead the team today in the Elite Eight against the Bruins—where star center Lauren Betts will look to make her mark.   • LSU beat Mississippi State 2-1 in a Friday night game delayed over two hours by stormy weather—Ethan Frey and Luis Hernandez powered key home runs that led the Tigers to victory. The final game, originally set for a 2 p.m. start, was pushed to 6 p.m.  WBRZ
