- ➤ East Baton Rouge Councilman Darryl Hurst announced a community bike ride and pep rally in the Glen Oaks area set for April 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The ride will start at Glen Oaks High/Middle, continue to Merrydale Elementary, Glen Oaks Park Elementary, and Forest Heights Academy, and finish at BREC’s Maplewood Park — bikes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. - ➤ The East Baton Rouge Parish mayor's office is urging groups and individuals to join a volunteer litter cleanup on Saturday from 9 a.m. until about noon plus a Household Materials Collection Day at LSU’s Touchdown Village Parking Lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events are part of the statewide Love the Boot effort and will proceed rain or shine despite a chance of showers after 1 p.m. The Advocate
