- ➤ Funeral services for former Southern University (home to the Jaguars) football coach Gerald Kimble will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church in Shreveport; the coach passed away on March 31 at age 84 after a storied career. WAFB 9
- ➤ LSU star Flau’jae received the key to the city and had a day dedicated in her honor during a ceremony at LSU on Mar. 30. Local officials gathered to celebrate her contributions to the community. WAFB 9
- ➤ Red Stick Farmers Market will open two seasonal markets starting Tuesday, April 14 at the Main Library at Goodwood (3–6 p.m.) and Wednesday, April 22 at ExxonMobil YMCA (9 a.m.–noon) until June; visitors can also join seed swap events on April 9, 11, and 14. WAFB 9
- ➤ Klassy Styles held its 17th Annual Easter Giveaway and Egg Hunt on Saturday at Scotlandville Plaza, where residents enjoyed live music, games, food, and free Easter baskets. - ➤ Future Use of Energy in Louisiana received a $45 million renewal to support carbon capture projects and energy startups through 2029 (announced by Governor Jeff Landry on March 23). - ➤ Tulane University researchers show that crevasses in Plaquemines Parish are the main driver of worsening saltwater intrusion in the lower Mississippi — raising concerns about protecting drinking water, as the Corps examines the model and explores pilot projects. The Advocate

- ➤ Senior Ella Onojuvwevwo made history on Saturday by becoming the first Tiger to run the 400-meter under 50 seconds at Bernie Moore Track Stadium—her 49.59 finish placed her among top NCAA, African and Nigerian performers—while LSU's men's and women's relay teams also won their races. WBRZ
