ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Gemico Ruffin, 28, died when his vehicle crashed into a railing on I-110 on Apr. 6 according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.  WAFB 9

CRIME NEWS

  • A judge sentenced Henry Williams to life in prison for killing his neighbor—25-year-old Ronald LeDuff—and shooting two deputies during a standoff in 2022.  WBRZ
  • Henry Williams III, 37, was sentenced on Monday to life in prison for killing his neighbor Ronald LeDuff on May 14 and wounding two deputies during a standoff—he showed no remorse as the judge imposed extra time for attempted murder and illegal weapon use.  The Advocate

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSU head coach Kim Mulkey and the Tigers announced the commitment of freshman forward Kate Koval; the 6-foot-5 player from Notre Dame is ranked No. 5 overall among 2024 recruits and played in 32 games with 10 starts, averaging 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. This commitment marks a key addition for the LSU women’s basketball program.  WAFB 9
  • LSU women’s basketball star Sylvia Fowles was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class—she played at LSU from 2004 to 2008 and had her No. 34 jersey retired in 2017. She becomes the eighth LSU player or coach to gain this honor.  LSU Reveille
