- ➤ Erin Jones, a Baker woman in charge of accounts for a family trucking company near Central, stole 431 checks totaling $334,092 over five years because of her gambling habit and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson who ordered her to repay the funds (she must turn herself in by May 19th and serve three years of probation with gambling treatment). - ➤ Rep. John Illg, Jr. proposed a resolution to stop LSU home games from starting during the day until October by requiring them to begin at 6 p.m.—a measure aimed at reducing heat-related risks.
