- ➤ Amtrak’s Mardi Gras train service, launched last August on the Mobile to New Orleans route, is nearing its 100,000th passenger with $15 fares and quick trips. The service plans to add stops in Baton Rouge and Pensacola in the coming months. WAFB 9

- ➤ Officials approved a rule on April 13 requiring students at Iberville schools to use only clear or mesh bags beginning next school year (the rule aims to speed up bag checks and enhance safety). Parents may contact their school for more details. WAFB 9
- ➤ St. George mayor Dustin Yates said a new school district matching city boundaries would offer a tax cut for residents if Amendment 2 (the proposal) passes on May 16. He will share financial estimates ahead of the vote following a City Club press conference. The Advocate

- ➤ Ochsner Health has expanded its Eat Fit program to hospital cafeterias and vending machines after success at local eateries; the initiative offers discounted, healthier meals and will be evaluated by Tulane and Xavier University over the next three years. WBRZ
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ LSU baseball lost to Texas A&M 5-2 in a three-game series held in Baton Rouge last weekend. Cade Arrambide hit a solo homer while Zac Cowan was charged with the loss, and the Tigers will host New Orleans tomorrow night. WJBO
