CRIME NEWS

  • A man accused of beating 68-year-old Rose Davillier to death at her White Sands Drive home on April 14 was arrested in Cincinnati on Friday morning—he faces charges of first-degree murder and home invasion.  WBRZ
  • Baton Rouge police arrested four people and seized 10 firearms, including multiple fully automatic handguns & AR-style pistols, in a drug and gun investigation that centered on a residence on South Sunderland Avenue and a related location on Yorkfield Drive.  WVLA
  • The coroner was called to a shooting on the 2600 block of Jefferson Ave yesterday at about 12:45 p.m. after 34-year-old Abraham Ross was found dead on his home's front porch (no suspect or motive has been announced).  WAFB 9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The East Baton Rouge School Board will meet at 5 p.m. on April 28 at the Central Office at 1050 South Foster Drive to vote on a realignment plan—one that will close nine campuses and merge others—to adjust student assignments.  WBRZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local groups including the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana, The Advocate and the LSU Reilly Center for Media and Public Affairs have launched an online game that lets residents try setting the state’s 25.3 billion dollar budget. The simulation takes less than 10 minutes—players will see if their decisions create a surplus or deficit while learning about taxes and spending in education, healthcare and the environment.  LSU Reveille

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSU women's basketball secured a transfer commit from guard MiLaysia Fulwiley, a four-time state champion and one-time national champion from South Carolina when she announced her decision on Friday—she averaged 11.7 points, 2.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds as a sophomore.  WAFB 9
  • After finishing fifth at the postseason semifinals, LSU gymnastics faces a big roster gap as 10 seniors end their careers and coach Jay Clark said rising stars — including freshman Kailin Chio — will lead the team in 2026. The team will experiment early next season to fill vacancies on vault, bars, beam and floor in hopes of rebuilding its championship push.  LSU Reveille
