- ➤ Baton Rouge authorities reported that a trial was underway Wednesday for Phillip Gardner—accused of burying his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter and faking the child’s disappearance after she sustained fatal injuries amid an alleged attack—where he faces charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
