CRIME NEWS

  • Livingston police arrested two men from Denham Springs in connection with the fatal shooting at the Doyle High School baseball field on Friday that killed 23-year-old Evan Lynch—23-year-old Caleb Rowley was booked on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, obstruction of justice and tampering with surveillance while 19-year-old Brandon Soileau is accused of firing the fatal shot.  The Advocate
  • Two people have been arrested following a fatal shooting behind the baseball field in Livingston Parish + local neighbors remain frightened as police continue investigating the incident.  WAFB 9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Louisiana Senate passed two bills to create a new school district for St. George—a district that will match the new city's boundaries—and now the measures head to the House where lawmakers will decide on legacy costs and magnet enrollment plans. If approved, voters will cast ballots on April 18 to decide on the constitutional amendment, and the district is set to open in July 2027.  The Advocate
