- ➤ Iberville Parish lost its historic Nottoway Plantation (built in 1859 along the Mississippi River) after fire crews battled a blaze that reduced the property to rubble with no injuries reported. The Advocate
- ➤ Six people including two children were displaced after a fire broke out on Jackson Avenue just before 1 a.m. on May 15 — the Baton Rouge Fire Department contained the damage around the home's attic while the Red Cross helped the residents — and no injuries were reported. WBRZ

- ➤ Three shootings on Wednesday in Baton Rouge left four people injured with one in critical condition—incidents occurred near North 24th Street and Laurel Street, Bluebonnet Ridge Apartments and Jefferson Lakes Apartments, and police are investigating. WVLA

- ➤ A state judge in Baton Rouge heard arguments on May 15th over a law that makes misoprostol and mifepristone controlled dangerous substances. Plaintiffs said the law may slow emergency care — and defendants asked the judge to dismiss the lawsuit filed in October. WVLA
- ➤ Attorney General Liz Murrill has hired Baton Rouge law firm Taylor Porter to handle several capital post-conviction appeals, including death row inmate Antoinette Frank’s case, to speed up the execution process and address long-dormant claims—Murrill said neither she nor her husband, a partner in the firm, profits from state contracts and that an ethics clearance is pending for attorney Grant Willis’s work.
