CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Baton Rouge man 19-year-old Jaworski Matthews Jr.—the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s friend—was arrested Thursday afternoon at Jefferson Lake Apartments after allegedly shooting the victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds while at the apartment pool, sheriff officials said. WBRZ

- ➤ Funeral services for former Mayor-President Kip Holden are scheduled in Baton Rouge after he died on May 14 at age 72. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. on May 22 at Greater King David Baptist Church, and he will lie in state at City Hall on May 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. WBRZ

- ➤ On May 17, three Baton Rouge area baseball teams lost final games in Sulphur (Live Oak lost 4 to 2 to Sam Houston in Division I, Brusly lost 7 to 4 to North Desoto in Division II, and U-High lost 7 to 4 to Catholic New Iberia in Division III). WBRZ
- ➤ On Saturday night, the Southeastern Lions ended LSU's softball season in Baton Rouge by using a walk-off fielder’s choice to win the regional elimination game by a score of 8 to 7. They will face Nebraska at 2 p.m. today in the regional championship — the team needs the win to advance to the Super Regional. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU softball bounced back in the NCAA Tournament by beating UConn 3 to 0 on May 17. The Tigers scored two runs from bases loaded walks in the first two innings and then got another run from an RBI fly out by Tori Edwards, and they will have a rematch with Southeastern. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU baseball finished its regular season with a 7—3 win over South Carolina on May 17th, with three home runs and a strong effort from Anthony Eyanson on the mound. The Tigers secured a rare road series win and clinched a double-bye for the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama next week. WBRZ
