- ➤ The historic Nottoway plantation home in Iberville Parish burned to the ground Thursday — the fire started in the south wing and spread to the main house used as a resort and event venue — with fire crews from Baton Rouge and beyond responding while officials investigate the cause. The Advocate

- ➤ On Sunday night more than 30 dogs were rescued from the St. Gabriel Animal Hospital where malnourishment and unsanitary conditions were found—visible bones and open sores have raised concerns—and police are investigating the situation. WBRZ
- ➤ Authorities confirmed that 9-year-old Lee'Lani Brooks died last Friday after being shot in the head while trying to help her siblings escape gunfire near Lawrence Drive in Algiers—police said 19-year-old Evans Rogers was arrested today and now faces an upgraded murder charge. The Advocate
- ➤ Kayelyn Ford, 22, called police at about 3:30 a.m. when she suspected her ex-boyfriend was using an old key to enter her Tanglewood apartment despite a protective order—minutes later he ambushed and fatally shot her before shooting himself and being taken to a hospital where he is not expected to survive.
