- ➤ Baton Rouge Police said a shooting at a McDonald's after a verbal fight turned physical around 1 p.m. Saturday on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard left one male injured and in stable condition at a hospital—officials say the suspect fled before police arrived and the incident is under investigation. - ➤ Gov. Jeff Landry signed an executive order to improve jail safety after 10 Orleans Parish inmates escaped, ordering inmate transfers, audits, and better court record keeping. The DOJ ended its investigation into state police use of force, and a new 118,000-square-foot crime lab that will help solve over 11,000 unsolved murder cases is set to be built by 2026 as lawmakers reviewed the state’s COVID response.
