- ➤ Zachary officials completed a cleanup of the centuries-old public cemetery using $25,000 from last year’s legislative session. Volunteers from First Baptist Church mowed, weeded, and painted the fence at the busy intersection of Old Scenic Highway and Mount Pleasant Road. The Advocate

- ➤ The proposed EBR Schools budget will raise new teacher starting pay by $6,000 + boosting salaries from $50,000 to $56,000 if approved. A public hearing is scheduled for June 4 with a school board vote on June 11, and the increase will take effect July 1. WBRZ

- ➤ Gov. Jeff Landry + legislative leaders announced a teacher pay raise plan yesterday at the State Capitol, reallocating $150 million in public school funds to replace the Amendment 3 $2,000 stipend. WBRZ
