- ➤ The Iris Domestic Violence Center has unveiled an in-house pantry that stocks snacks, drinks and easy meals to help survivors stay safe at the shelter — it was created in partnership with Kasie Coleman from Synergy Ministry at Mt. - ➤ Early Sunday at 2:21 a.m., an officer in Baton Rouge shot a suspect after the man reportedly pointed an AK-style rifle at him during a traffic stop at Winbourne Avenue and Foster Drive — two armed passengers fled. The Advocate
- ➤ Police said a suspect in Baton Rouge was shot after he pointed a weapon at an officer early Sunday morning (June 1) and investigators are looking into the incident. WAFB 9

- ➤ Gov. Jeff Landry requested $93.5 million for his LA GATOR program that aids families with private and homeschool costs but the Senate Finance Committee cut the funding to $43.5 million on Sunday. Tensions rose between Landry and Senate President Cameron Henry (R-Metairie) as lawmakers will soon vote on the state budget. The Advocate
- ➤ On Sunday, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority hosted the Louisiana Storm Safe Event at the LSU Center for River Studies to share hurricane safety tips with local residents. Officials advised keeping gas generators 15 feet from homes — letting them cool before refueling and preparing emergency kits with food, water, and medicine in case a storm hits. WBRZ
