- ➤ Baton Rouge-area Catholic priest Father Greg Daigle died Sunday morning after falling ill during a 9 a.m. Mass and was rushed to Oschner Medical Center—funeral arrangements are pending. - ➤ Kelvin Joseph Jr.—a former LSU cornerback from Baton Rouge—was arrested early Saturday in Texas for allegedly striking and killing a motorcyclist while driving under the influence and fleeing the scene. The Advocate
- ➤ Early Sunday, Ascension Parish deputies responded to a 2 a.m. shooting on I-10 in Prairieville — an unknown vehicle opened fire on a westbound car — injuring three occupants, with two in critical condition who were taken to a local hospital. The Advocate

- ➤ LSU’s interim president Matt Lee said the university is ready to help revitalize the University of New Orleans if the legislature votes to return the school to the LSU system—he noted that UNO has struggled with a $30 million shortfall and low enrollment since Hurricane Katrina.
