- ➤ Brynnen Murphy pleaded guilty to manslaughter and feticide for killing his pregnant girlfriend and throwing her 2-year-old son off a bridge, and he was sentenced to 95 years in prison—marking a severe sentence in a shocking case. WBRZ
- ➤ Officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department worked with the FBI and ATF from May and on Monday raided two residences on the 8000 block of Jefferson Highway and the 1400 block of Gwen Drive—arresting Jaquael Robinson and two accomplices while seizing seven firearms and over 60 grams of fentanyl. - ➤ Baton Rouge police arrested a 19-year-old on Tuesday in connection to the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Davanta Mathews on May 18, 2023 near a student housing complex on Highland Road & he was booked for first-degree murder after detectives linked him to the case. The Advocate

- ➤ A bill renaming a part of Airline Highway after officers killed in a 2016 ambush passed and was signed by the governor on June 10. The law will take effect August 1—new signs will be installed to honor Sergeant Nick Tullier, Deputy Brad Garafola and Officers Montrell Jackson and Matthew Gerald. WBRZ

- ➤ LSU students Victoria Irondi, Nnamdi Dike, and Trevor Perrault are honored for their capstone project (a car seat alert system that uses pressure sensors to detect when a child remains in a vehicle) as Louisiana reported its first pediatric heat-related car death of the year.
