- ➤ LSU Police arrested an Ohio man on Friday, July 11 who allegedly called a bomb threat to their headquarters — he reportedly told an officer to kill himself or his threat would blow up the station, and he was booked on a $10,000 bond. WBRZ

- ➤ On July 11, the U.S. Defense Department’s Northern Command approved sending Marines to ICE detention facilities in Louisiana, Florida and Texas to do non-law enforcement work in support of an anti-immigration crackdown. The plan allowed up to 700 personnel with 200 Marines assigned — and nine detention centers in Louisiana among the key sites — to support the effort. WBRZ

Jeff Landry said on Friday that Michael Hare is the new head of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority after Glenn Ledet left for the state Department of Transportation and Development; Hare, who has worked in coastal jobs before, said he will lead plans to fix worsening land loss and money shortages—challenges such as the paused Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion project.
