  • Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge will host a one-day donation drive on July 17 at its office on S. Acadian Thruway from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.—they will accept $25 Visa or Walmart gift cards and monetary donations, which will be sent to help flood victims in Texas.  WBRZ
  • Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge will host a donation drive on Thursday, July 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 1900 S. Acadian Thruway to collect $25 Visa or Walmart gift cards and monetary donations for Texas flood victims—donations will be sent to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Antonio to help those in need.  WVLA

  • Authorities are searching for 71-year-old Peggy Wilson, reported missing on July 11 after she was last seen on July 5 on Billy Goat Road in East Feliciana Parish—her serious medical issues may have contributed—and multiple agencies are retracing her steps near Carruth Road.  WVLA
  • Following a March crash in which Officer Loren Gaskin totaled his unmarked BRPD unit while impaired, an attorney criticized Zachary Police for releasing body-cam footage that was blurred to the point of concealing evidence—raising questions about the department’s handling of the investigation.  WBRZ
  • After police released body camera footage showing officers tasing and shooting 38-year-old Anthony Pursley during a call on Washington Avenue, the Baton Rouge NAACP said the response did not properly address the mental health crisis and questioned the decision to draw a taser and gun (incident on July 5 at 4 a.m.) (NAACP president Jarret Luter criticized the department’s actions).  WBRZ
