Stutes Small Business and Community Development Clinic will offer free legal services to small businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations starting Aug. 18 as upper-level law students, supervised by licensed faculty, assist with business formation, compliance & contract drafting. The clinic seeks clients who cannot afford legal fees to help avoid costly issues while providing students with real-world experience. WVLA

- ➤ Early Tuesday, a pedestrian was struck and killed on Airline Highway near the Ascension Parish line by the state fairgrounds—officials from the Parish Sheriff's Office, St. George Fire Department and State Police closed the road between Industriplex and Manchac Park Lane. WBRZ

- ➤ Baton Rouge Police are searching for a silver sedan (with front end damage) that is linked to a deadly hit-and-run crash on the 7800 block of Anselmo Lane where a pedestrian was struck on June 8th at 9:30 p.m. and the driver was later seen removing the bumper before driving eastbound. WVLA

- ➤ River Parishes Community College has more than doubled its enrollment and number of graduates over the past three academic years—enrollment grew by over 500 students from 2021-22 to 2024-25 and completers increased dramatically, with the college now preparing to open a new regional workforce training center in Donaldsonville. - ➤ Phase One of the Perkins Road Overpass Project started Monday, limiting parking in some areas while Entergy works to move power lines underground and causing brief power outages at a few businesses. Director Fred Raiford said the phase will finish in about a month — new sidewalks, bike lanes and lighting will ease access — with the overall project expected to take about a year after railroad approval. - ➤ The Baton Rouge Rougarou baseball team, led by first-time head coach Stephen Klein, ended a 37-10 regular season record and began their playoff run Tuesday at Pete Goldsby Field against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
