- ➤ A Baton Rouge man—35-year-old Christian Coleman—was arrested on Sunday, August 10 at 2:40 p.m. when he allegedly tried to run over his live-in girlfriend during a domestic dispute on the 5600 block of Cheryl Road, and she sustained serious injuries that led to hospitalization while he now faces charges for attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery. - ➤ Attorneys in a BRPD corruption case said they will challenge a recording used as evidence to dispute claims of misconduct in the investigation. They aim to contest the recording's use in court to help keep the trial fair. WAFB 9
- ➤ District Attorney Hillar Moore said prosecutors agreed to a plea deal with 17-year-old Nicholas Mcquirter—who fatally shot Dezmon Hamilton during a disputed gunfight in a home in 2021 while visiting Hamilton’s 14-year-old daughter—because they believed a trial would almost certainly acquit him, though Hamilton's family expressed outrage over the reduced negligent homicide charge.
