- ➤ On August 15, Baton Rouge officials investigated a vacant house fire on Sherwood Street near Delaware Street, and firefighters kept the flames from spreading—no injuries were reported as investigators check the cause. WBRZ

- ➤ In East Baton Rouge, three domestic violence murder-suicides occurred in August—54-year-old Alanna Singleton was killed on August 3 in Central, 24-year-old Kyra Hayes died on August 4 in Baker, and 55-year-old Mirtalarellana Ramirez was fatally shot near Florida Boulevard on August 13—while District Attorney Hillar Moore noted that five such cases have happened this year, exceeding the usual two to three.
