CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Baton Rouge authorities arrested Heather Hinton, 43, on Aug. 9 after she allegedly stole over $42K from a local youth football group using mobile app payments, ATM transactions and gift card purchases—she turned herself in after admitting to the charges. WBRZ
- ➤ A man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly recording women in his home's bathroom and shower — 59-year-old John Robinson was booked on 25 counts of video voyeurism and 50 counts of pornography involving juveniles after investigators found he shared 25 videos via KIK and downloaded explicit material. WBRZ
- ➤ A Texas man—J.D. Price III, 25—was arrested in Assumption Parish on Aug. 17 on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and pornography involving juveniles after phone messages linked him to alleged sexual activity with a 15-year-old. WVLA

- ➤ The River Parishes Community College Foundation awarded $195,000 in scholarships to 89 students for the 2025-2026 academic year—nearly triple last year's total. The recipients will be honored at a Scholarship Signing Day Banquet to celebrate their achievements. The Advocate

- ➤ Baton Rouge officials raised concerns about a federally funded housing project when costs soared to $480,000 and developer Jason Hughes began work without proper permits or a valid contract—internal memos showed that costs per square foot exceeded local averages. - ➤ Residents are concerned over extra charges on their utility bills after Entergy sold its natural gas distribution service to Delta Utilities—Commissioner Davante Lewis said the fee is divided based on each company's days of service and that rates will remain unchanged for two years. WBRZ
