- ➤ An explosion rocked an oilfield supply company near Roseland in Tangipahoa Parish on Friday—prompting authorities to establish a one-mile evacuation zone that included a nearby elementary school where buses transported students to Amite while officials sheltered residents at a community center. - ➤ A person was taken to the hospital in stable condition with a non-life-threatening arm wound after an alleged shooter in a dark SUV fired at a car at the corner of Greenwell Street and Cedar Pointe Boulevard on Thursday—deputies and EMS are investigating the incident. WBRZ

- ➤ On Aug 22, 2025, the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society hosted its 18th annual Fête Rouge at L'Auberge Casino and Hotel where 30 top restaurants and 200 wines were showcased—raising funds for local childhood nutrition programs. WBRZ

- ➤ The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approved new pay increases for school employees and bus drivers to help fill 47 vacant positions and ease concerns over morning bus delays. Transportation Director Rob Howle said the plan included a $500 recruitment stipend for driver referrals and a raise from $13 to $18 for extra routes. WVLA
- ➤ EBR Schools approved the reallocation of nearly $5 million from its operating fund to the child nutrition program on Thursday to avoid a meal service budget deficit—cutting the school system’s reserves by almost five percent and setting a plan to repay about $2.4 million each year over the next two years.
