- ➤ DEMCO released its annual report on Aug 26 that showed progress in its seven-parish service area with 119,120 meters in service and highlighted key projects such as the groundbreaking for the Amite Solar Energy Center in Tangipahoa and a new wholesale power deal with NextEra Energy Resources. The report laid out a 2025–29 strategic plan with goals in safety, grid resiliency, financial performance and economic development and detailed how crews restored service after a tornado and Hurricane Francine. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Baton Rouge police arrested Devante Pugh after a traffic crash at Highland Road and Lorri Burgess Avenue on Sunday — officers seized over two pounds of weed, twelve bottles of promethazine, a gram and a half of fentanyl and a Glock 23 that had been reported stolen from a 2014 Mercedes. WBRZ
- ➤ Baton Rouge Police responded to a shooting early Tuesday morning on Aug. 26 that left one man in critical condition. WAFB 9
- ➤ Christopher Morgan, 34, pleaded guilty before the 19th Judicial Court for child rape, production of child pornography and possession of child pornography — he is sentenced to 40 years in prison without parole, with concurrent terms and lifetime sex offender registration following an undercover investigation.
