CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Baton Rouge woman, 30-year-old Derriclesha Dasha Lee, was arrested on Tuesday, September 09 for allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana into the Federal Correctional Complex at Pollock in Grant Parish—she now faces charges of possession with intent to distribute and taking contraband into a penal institution. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Riverbend Research and the Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance presented a study showing that the Red Stick Farmers Market in Baton Rouge generated an estimated $6.8 million in total economic activity and nearly half its vendors relied on the market for most of their income. The study also found that 83% of shoppers visited for more nutritious products and that the market supplied fresh produce to about 1,400 residents in food deserts — boosting local economic and social vitality.
