- ➤ Douglas Manship started WBRZ in Baton Rouge in 1955, building on his family's long history in local journalism that began with newspapers and early radio. - ➤ Hurricane forecasters said Tuesday morning that a tropical wave off Africa has a 20% chance to form a storm in the next week, while another low pressure system in the central Atlantic has a 90% chance to become Tropical Storm Gabrielle in the next 48 hours (its name if it forms) and is expected to move at 10 to 15 mph. - ➤ Early voting for the Oct. 11 election in the Baton Rouge region starts Sept. 27 and ends Oct. 4 (excluding Sept. 28) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with absentee ballot requests due by Oct. 7 at 4:30 p.m. and polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day, while runoff elections if needed will be held on Nov. 15. - ➤ Representative Barbara Freiberg sponsored House Bill 124, which Gov. Landry signed in June to redraw the map for the 19th Judicial Court District in Baton Rouge.
