- ➤ S&W Foods has grown its revenue to $80 million under CEO Paul Spalitta, who took over nearly two decades ago and expanded the customer base beyond south Louisiana to Florida. - ➤ Nearly two months after the Smitty’s Supply explosion, cleanup crews in Roseland have recovered over 10 million gallons of waste and installed booms and dams — independent tester Scott Smith says September samples still show dangerous chemicals, including antifreeze compounds, in the Tangipahoa River. Smith and his team will continue testing the water to track the spill’s spread as EPA efforts grow in the coming weeks. WBRZ

- ➤ Livingston Parish Fire Dist. 2 said on October 12 that it is expanding its station on Hutchinson Road—its old building will be converted into a training classroom while a larger facility for vehicles and equipment with a lighted helipad is planned. WBRZ

- ➤ Alfredia Turner, a longtime patient navigator at Baton Rouge General, was diagnosed with stage 4 triple negative breast cancer in April 2019 despite her regular screenings and underwent chemotherapy along with a double mastectomy after genetic testing revealed Lynch Syndrome. Now cancer-free and holding a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Development after celebrating her son Blake’s college graduation, Turner is back at work with a new outlook—she recently embraced challenges like rock climbing and camping. - ➤ Just 4 Him Men's Haircuts in Brusly is hosting a blood drive today to help injured Iberville Parish Sheriff's Capt Brett Stassi Jr—a community effort supporting his recovery. WBRZ
