CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Friends of the Capitol Park Museum hosted its inaugural Fall Fest at the museum by turning exhibits into a haunted house and inviting Spanish Town families to shop and enjoy arts and crafts. Funds raised will support future educational programs (and free amenities) ahead of the museum's 20th anniversary. WBRZ

- ➤ Active and some retired public school employees in East Baton Rouge must enroll in a new Blue Cross plan by October 31 to keep their 2026 coverage, and school officials have sent emails, texts, printed mail, and arranged one-on-one sessions to help complete the enrollment. The new plans offer a High Deductible option and two provider networks—Community Blue centered on Baton Rouge General and Ochsner and Precision Blue around Our Lady of the Lake and Woman’s Hospital—while monthly premiums remain unchanged. - ➤ Governor Jeff Landry criticized the LSU Board of Supervisors for raising season ticket prices for 2026 on Saturday night following the Tigers' loss to Texas A&M by a score of 49 to 25—he posted his concerns on social media while the board said the increase met high ticket demand from recent sell-outs. - ➤ During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Baton Rouge General is featuring its Healing Boutique inside the hospital gift shop (located off Bluebonnet Boulevard) to give cancer patients specialized wig fittings, prosthesis fittings and comfort products that ease appointment stress. - ➤ Baton Rouge native C'Zavian Teasett, Grambling State's quarterback, was injured in Las Vegas after a hit during a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against Jackson State — he was taken in an ambulance and coach Mickey Joseph sent prayers for his recovery, though his condition remains unknown. - ➤ The Southern University Jaguars played Florida A&M Rattlers at A.W. Mumford Stadium on Oct. 25. Florida A&M won 43-35 after a hard-fought game — key plays from Jamal Hailey and others shaped the final score. WAFB 9
- ➤ LSU men's basketball won its exhibition game at Central Florida on October 26 (75-68) as players Dedan Thomas, Marquel Sutton, and Michael Nwoko helped overcome a halftime deficit. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU head football coach Brian Kelly was fired on Sunday evening+ the team was notified at a meeting at football operations around 8:00 p.m. Reports noted that his firing came amid heavy discussions over his $53 million buyout after a loss dropped LSU’s record to 5-3. WBRZ
- ➤ On Saturday night, Texas A&M beat LSU 49-25 as Marcel Reed threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more, earning the first win at Tiger Stadium since 1994. The victory snapped a six-game losing streak at the venue — a sign of the team's early season boost. WAFB 9
