- ➤ Louisiana attorney Gordon McKernan plans to give away 600 bikes and helmets to children across the state this holiday season. Registration for the giveaway will open in eight cities—Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Hammond, Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans, Monroe and Shreveport—with some deadlines on Dec. 1 and others on Dec. 7. - ➤ Officials with the FORTIFIED program celebrated 10,000 new roofs on homes at a news conference on Monday — the roofs are built to resist high winds, hurricanes and hail as Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple noted Louisiana now leads in fortified roof installations. WBRZ
- ➤ On Monday, the Louisiana Department of Insurance said it installed 10,000 fortified roofs to protect homes from high winds, hail, and storms — up from about 1,000 last year — and officials celebrated the milestone. WBRZ
- ➤ East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sid Edwards announced his new initiative—A Table for All—to support SNAP recipients by partnering with local restaurants that will offer free meals to anyone with a valid EBT card and matching state ID from Monday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 16 amid the ongoing shutdown. - ➤ On Monday, Zachary's Lane Regional Medical Center moved its first patients into a new four-story expansion that adds 82,000 square feet of space and 37,000 square feet of renovated areas. Hospital officials said further refurbishment of labs, imaging, and patient services will continue in the upcoming phase. WBRZ
