- ➤ Volunteers served Thanksgiving dinner with cheer at St. Vincent de Paul yesterday in Baton Rouge—some helpers from Arkansas aided in passing out plates and organizing a new outdoor dining area for meals. The Advocate

- ➤ John Francis, a 15-year-old born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, received a bionic arm through a local fundraising effort- with donations from neighbors, doctors, and church groups. He said the new arm makes it easier for him to play video games and ride his bike. WBRZ
- ➤ Baton Rouge resident Wanda Jackson, who lost her son to gun violence on Thanksgiving 2021, distributed 34 Thanksgiving care packages to grieving mothers last Thanksgiving—she plans to expand her program next year if more volunteers join. WBRZ
- ➤ Baton Rouge nonprofit Red Shoes runs a community refrigerator at 2303 Government St.—the fridge sees about 200 daily visitors as volunteers and donors work to keep it stocked amid rising food prices and government shutdown challenges. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ After more than a decade of work, the Lincoln Theater is set to reopen next month as the Louisiana Black History Hall of Fame Museum and Cultural Center. The renovated venue, which once hosted performances by legends including James Brown — Ella Fitzgerald, will have its soft opening in mid- to late December and continue to serve as a performance space and cultural hub. - ➤ After finishing with a 9-3 record, the Southeastern Lions are FCS playoff bound for their first postseason run since 2022 — they will host No. 17 Illinois State on Saturday at noon at Strawberry Stadium with the game streamed on ESPN+ — and Southland teams No. 7 Stephen F. - ➤ Central Wildcats advanced to the quarterfinal round for the third straight year after scoring 98 points in two postseason games.
