  • Poppa Earle’s hosted its first community tailgate on Saturday with food, music, a cook-off awarding a $5,000 prize, and every food pass sold supporting the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank — organizers said the event brought local residents together to help those in need.  WVLA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • NEMO Industries has an option to buy the former Point Houmas Plantation near Donaldsonville for a $3 billion AI-powered pig iron plant—an area with an unmarked burial ground and historical artifacts that has prompted archeologists to call for a full study and descendant involvement. Don Hunter and Joanne Ryan say preserving the site is crucial as NEMO continues fieldwork while planning its project.  The Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • This morning the Southern University board approved a settlement with former head football coach Terrence Graves—he will receive the remaining $250,000 annual salary for October through December and begin an at-will contract at $75,000 per year starting January 1. Graves was fired after a homecoming loss with a final score of 24 to 3 that left the Jaguars with a record of 1 to 6.  WAFB 9
  • Southern University System President Dennis Shields said at a board meeting in New Orleans on Nov. 28 that he will leave his job on Dec. 31 and take a six-month break before joining the law school staff — the board did not name an interim president and will meet next on Dec. 18 in Baton Rouge.  WAFB 9

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSU lost 17-13 to Oklahoma in its final regular season game in Norman as the offense struggled with stalled drives and blocked plays—coach Frank Wilson praised the defense even as key scoring opportunities slipped away. The game marked LSU's first trip to Norman and exposed offensive struggles that ultimately cost them the win.  LSU Reveille
  • LSU men’s basketball beat DePaul 96-63 to win the Emerald Coast Classic and secure its seventh straight victory — the team showed strong offense and defense during the game. Junior guard Dedan Thomas Jr. was named Most Outstanding Player — with Max MacKinnon and Mike Nwoko also contributing key points.  LSU Reveille
  • LSU is set to introduce its new head football coach Lane Kiffin today at Tiger Stadium — he will appear with LSU President Dr. Rousse and Athletic Director Verge Ausberry as the team unveils its new vision, with the event live-streamed on WBRZ at 3:30 p.m.  WBRZ
  • Freshman ZaKiyah Johnson led LSU women's basketball to a 113-53 win over Marist at the Paradise Jam Reef tournament last Friday — scoring 19 points with 8 rebounds and 3 assists as the team set an NCAA record by reaching 100 points for the seventh straight game.  LSU Reveille
  • LSU will travel to Norman to face Oklahoma in its final regular-season game; the Tigers finished 7-4, secured bowl eligibility, and aim for a three-game win streak — junior linebacker Whit Weeks, who broke his ankle earlier, is expected to play.  LSU Reveille
