  • BREC brings its Let it Sneaux holiday event & winter wonderland experience to Perkins Road Community Park today as part of the Greater Baton Rouge festivities.  WAFB 9
  • Former fire chief Chuckie Albert died on Dec. 12 after battling cancer, ending his 40-year service with the St. George and Zachary fire departments (he retired in 2022). Funeral details have not been announced.  WAFB 9
  • Attorney Gordon McKernan handed out dozens of bikes in Baton Rouge & Hammond on Dec. 11 as part of his 'Gordon Gives' program. Today, BREC hosts Let it Sneaux at Perkins Road Community Park for a winter wonderland event celebrating the season.  WAFB 9

  • Main Street Market will reopen Monday, Dec. 15 at 501 Main St. after renovations; it now offers a teaching kitchen, four fast-casual food concepts, and a fair trade coffee shop featuring local produce, and will operate Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.  225 Magazine

  • Baton Rouge gets big-screen pride as Zendaya portrays a local bride-to-be in A24's film The Drama opposite Robert Pattinson. Partly filmed here, the movie will open on Apr. 3, 2026 & shines a light on our city's creative roots.  WBRZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor-President Sid Edwards declared Monday, Dec. 15 as The Dunham School Day after Dunham’s football team earned its first state championship win since 2004. The school will host a Champions Celebration at 9:30 a.m. in its competition gym to honor the team.  WBRZ
  • A watchdog report found that Louisiana’s environmental agency cut almost one in four workers and reduced its funding by 26% over the past 15 years — one of the steepest cuts in the nation that could lead to fewer inspections and slower pollution response.  The Advocate

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Real estate experts explained that the Fed rate cuts may lead to more listings and complex borrowing terms ahead of the 2025 tax season, as buyers and sellers weigh their options. An open house is set for tomorrow at 39359 Lakeland Avenue in Prairieville from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  WVLA

SPORTS NEWS

  • LSU running back Kaleb Jackson, a Baton Rouge native and Liberty Magnet High School alumnus, entered the transfer portal on Friday, Dec. 12 after recording 331 rushing yards and four touchdowns in three seasons, and he has two years of college eligibility remaining.  WBRZ
  • LSU alum Tasmin Mitchell began his basketball career at Denham Springs High School and later helped lead LSU to the Final Four; he now works as an assistant coach and director of player personnel (applying life lessons learned at home) to support young athletes.  WBRZ
