- ➤ On Friday, Livingston Parish deputies delivered thousands of presents through Sheriff Jason Ard's 38th Christmas Crusade to help every child have a Merry Christmas, supported by public donations + sharing holiday cheer with local families. WBRZ
- ➤ BREC’s Annual Rainbow Trout Fishing Competition began Friday and runs through Jan. 19 at five conservation ponds in the parish (including Central Sports Park and Zachary Community Park), where anglers can keep up to four tagged trout daily for prize redemption. WBRZ

- ➤ Karen McCord, who turned her grief over her daughter Carley’s fatal plane crash into a memoir celebrating her legacy, says holiday memories have fueled her healing work, and author Peggy Sweeny-McDonald will launch her book “Life in the A-Zone” at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library (Goodwood) on Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. WVLA

- ➤ Since August, East Baton Rouge Parish School District shifted start times at six schools from 6:50 a.m. to 8:50 a.m., and at Glen Oaks Magnet (one of the high schools) administrators reported a 44 percent drop in tardies and improved test scores, though students noted a later dismissal. WBRZ
- ➤ Former SU football player Devon Gales, who was paralyzed in 2015 during a game, earned his degree from UGA today. His achievement shows his determination + perseverance in overcoming obstacles. WAFB 9

- ➤ Louisiana Wildlife Federation continues its work to protect wildlife, educate the community, and support local conservation efforts. The group introduced a new interactive coloring book about fishing (offering local tips and safety lessons) and opened nominations for its Annual Conservation Achievement Awards and Youth Hunter of the Year.
