- ➤ Southern Marsh started with fewer than 150 shirts and now sells over 1 million pieces a year, earning $34 million in revenue. The company runs four retail stores and distributes to about 600 stores across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama after learning hard lessons in early sourcing abroad. The Advocate

- ➤ Mid City Gras paraded down North Boulevard in Baton Rouge Sunday, showcasing handmade throws featuring the iconic squirrel mascot. A teacher from the event distributed gifts made by her students, highlighting the volunteer-run parade that brought the community together. WBRZ

- ➤ Louisiana Policy Institute for Children CEO Dr. Libbie Sonnier stressed the need for quality early childhood education during Early Childhood Education Month, noting state funding has grown to $78 million and a virtual parent advocacy training is scheduled for Feb. 19 (designed to help families access better care). - ➤ Southern University's School of Nursing marks 40 years of graduating nearly 3,000 nurses during Black History Month and stands as the state’s largest producer of Black nurses. The college unveiled a history display (Histograms) and will break ground on a new facility this spring to meet rising healthcare needs. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU is building a new library that will nearly double its capacity & offer flexible study rooms, recording studios and updated technology for student use. The design also includes a larger food area, controlled 24-hour access and improved parking options near campus. LSU Reveille

- ➤ Local crawfish and rice farmer Josh Courville reports that invasive apple snails and delphacid insects threaten his fields in southern Louisiana. Researchers are testing new pest control methods (altered water management practices) to help protect crops from these growing pests. WBRZ

- ➤ During a recent Tiger Sports update, LSU Softball kicked off its season hosting NC State while LSU Baseball added first baseman Zach Yorke from the transfer portal. LSU Women's Basketball will travel to Austin to face Texas + the gymnastics team hosted No. 14 Penn State on Feb. 6. LSU Reveille
- ➤ This Super Bowl Sunday, six former LSU Tigers will play in the game with five joining the Patriots (Kayshon Boutte, Will Campbell, Jaquelin Roy, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Bradyn Swinson) while Anthony Bradford suits up for the Seahawks, extending a 25-year legacy from LSU. WBRZ
- ➤ LSU softball dominated its opening series by beating Nevada 6-2 and NC State 7-5 on Feb. 6 at (Tiger Park) in Baton Rouge, marking a strong start to the season. LSU Reveille
