- ➤ Baton Rouge police charged 34-year-old Ian Seghers with first-degree murder after electronic surveillance and crime scene evidence linked him to his stepfather's home on Jean Street where 66-year-old Walter Keith Rowland was reported missing on March 9—phone data on March 1 and cadaver dog alerts supported the case even though Rowland's body has not been found. - ➤ Baton Rouge residents enjoyed a busy week of local events as the Ascension Parish Library hosted an embroidery workshop on Monday and the West Baton Rouge Library held a Mother’s Day Storytime today while a book signing with LSU sports writer Scott Rabalais took place at La Divina Italian Cafe. - ➤ An ambitious coastal restoration project aimed at saving Louisiana’s coast is in jeopardy after Gov. Jeff Landry claimed a withheld study showed it would create far less new land and led the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to suspend its permit. The project began in 2023 and state officials had until Monday to dispute the move—raising questions about its funding and future steps. WVLA
