  • Alexia Hamilton, 26, was arrested by East Baton Rouge Parish deputies on July 25 after she allegedly tried to shoot her mother at Eat ‘N’ Geaux on Airline Highway during a work dispute—witnesses said a bullet shattered a glass window while people were inside.  WVLA
  • Police responded at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday to a shooting at The Hub at Baton Rouge Apartment Homes near the Walmart on Highland at Lee Drive—one woman was fatally shot in the chest while a man sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury and no witnesses have been found.  The Advocate

  • Baton Rouge residents can join Suspense Games’ live trivia game show each week at 11 local restaurants and bars—entering free and competing for cash prizes. Owners Spencer Hunt and Robert Demourelle created the event to bring the thrill of game shows right here at home.  WBRZ

  • Three educators from the Greater Baton Rouge area were honored at the 19th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala Friday night — Regena Hartley Beard was named Teacher of the Year, Justin Wax Principal of the Year, Brooklynn Johnson-Botley Early Childhood Teacher of the Year, Devonda Whittington-Warren Early Childhood Leader, and Olivia Francois New Teacher of the Year. The Louisiana Department of Education and Dream Teachers celebrated the winners for their work in boosting student success.  WVLA

  • Gov. Jeff Landry and Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser praised the cancellation of the Mid-Barataria Diversion Project (citing its high cost and seafood risk) while Plaquemines Parish officials welcomed the move.
