If you're heading to on Saturday, Nov. 7, Alabama comes at 2:30 p.m. on ABC instead of under the lights. LSU coach Lane Kiffin has a fix for the early start. “Have breakfast earlier. Start drinking earlier. Whatever it is. It's your routine, just move it up,” he said Monday. He even joked about a citywide shutdown at 10 p.m. Friday.

Kiffin's other pitch is noise. He heard Tennessee hit 130.3 decibels in Neyland Stadium during an Oct. 17 win over Alabama, which also kicked off at 2:30 p.m. “Let's break the record,” he said. He was also told LSU has lost just one 2:30 p.m. home game since 2009.

  • Kickoff: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, on ABC
  • Tickets: sold out
  • Rankings: No. 15 LSU, No. 9 Alabama
  • Series: no longer annual after this year because of SEC realignment

LSU bans bands and DJs at Saturday's Alabama tailgates and tightens the rules

If you're tailgating Saturday, LSU's updated safety measures matter. Traditional tailgating is allowed, but bands and DJs are prohibited. Unauthorized large-scale gatherings and events will be strictly prohibited, and student tailgates must break down one hour before kickoff.

Starting this weekend, LSU is cracking down on large unauthorized gatherings that aren't “traditional tailgating” events and violate policies. President Wade Rousse put it this way:

“While tailgating is embedded within the fabric of our community, we must remember it is a shared privilege that mandates a safe environment focused on one event, the LSU football game.”

Data centers

Gov. Jeff Landry's administration announced new requirements on Oct. 29 for data centers seeking the state sales tax exemption, and the state will now call them “digital factories.” The program becomes invitation-only, and companies must file an attestation covering eight areas. Developers must explain how they will finance electricity generation, transmission and other infrastructure without shifting costs to existing customers. That's on top of the tax break Landry set up. kpel965.comBaton Rouge Business Reportnola.com
